Beechen Cliff scraped through thanks to a late try from Peter Mead.

StJohn's, who had proved quite a handful, led 17-14 going into the last fiveminutes.

'They could have won it but we were luckier with kicks,' saidcoach Simon Newbold.

Full back Jack Moon kicked three penaltie as well asscoring the other Beechen Cliff try and converting Mead's.
