Bahrain decision is backed by Williams

Williams would have boycotted the Bahrain Grand Prix had it not been called off, the team said today.

The Formula One opener, due to take place on March 13, was postponed on Monday because of anti-government protests.

Williams chairman Adam Parr said: "Going there would have made the situation there worse because we would have been a focal point for demonstrations."
