Amy Weaver hopes to weave magic on Kieren Fallon return

Simon Milham13 April 2012

Amy Weaver is looking forward to getting Kieren Fallon off to a flying start on his long-awaited comeback.

At 27, Michael Bell's former assistant is the youngest female trainer in Britain and she will be thrust into a media frenzy at Lingfield on Friday when she saddles Rare Malt in the mile maiden.

It is one of seven rides on the day for the six-time champion jockey, who returns after an 18-month drugs ban.

And Weaver, who trains 14 horses in Newmarket, thinks the twice-raced juvenile filly Rare Malt holds every chance.

She said: "She was runner-up last time at Kempton and the winner of that had previously beaten us when second to Seta, a nice filly of Luca Cumani's, at Newmarket on her debut.

"Hopefully we can give Kieren a winner. We are lucky to get him. He's a great jockey and she has a good draw. She has a good chance."

Fallon will then partner Patrick Morris's three-year-old Roodee King in the five-furlong maiden, before jumping aboard the Terry Mills-trained Diriculous, who carries top weight in the six-furlong handicap. The 44-year-old's four rides at the Surrey track is completed by Ed Dunlop's Satwa Gold in the 10-furlong handicap.

Fallon then heads to Kempton's evening meeting where he has three mounts, teaming up with Paul Howling's Wigan Lane, Gerard Butler's newcomer Arte Viva and Bugaku for former boss Sir Michael Stoute.

Meanwhile, with Ryan Moore and Richard Hughes suspended, and Jimmy Fortune set to partner Rainbow View for John Gosden in Leopardstown's Matron Stakes on Saturday, Richard Hannon has put Jim Crowley on standby to ride J J The Jet Plane in the Sprint Cup at Haydock.
