Addicks braced for Curb call

Alan Curbishley: Worked wonders at Charlton

Charlton were today bracing themselves for an approach from Liverpool for manager Alan Curbishley.

With the Anfield club announcing the departure of Gerard Houllier, Curbishley is thought to be top of their list of possible replacements.

He has proved himself in 13 years at Charlton, helping transform the club into a top-10 Premiership outfit with modest resources.

Charlton have fought hard to keep Curbishley at The Valley after previous interest from Aston Villa, Tottenham and West Ham.

Although Curbishley signed a new three-year deal in February, it has a get-out clause which would allow him to move to one of the Premiership's top clubs if they buy out the remainder of his contract.

So, if Liverpool want Curbishley it will cost them around £4million.
