Adams relieved he didn't pay to watch

Les Ferdinand wasted the best scoring opportunity of a dreary goalless encounter at Southampton but at least Leicester manager Micky Adams was happy to leave with a point. It was his team's fourth draw in succession.

Even allowing for a strong wind, the game was full of awful crossing and poor finishing, the worst coming in the 22nd minute when Ferdinand latched on to Marcus Bent's excellent chest down but sliced his shot wide from 12 yards out.

Adams, whose side are hovering above the relegation zone, said: "We had two great chances to win it. Les should have scored and Antti Niemi saved from Muzzy Izzet. I will try not to apologise too much for the game but I am glad I got in for free, that's for sure.

"I am pleased with a point, although the performance was not anywhere near what I wanted. That said, we have played much better than that and lost.

"We are still fourth-bottom but it is now up to the teams below us to see how they cope with the growing pressure."

Wolves remain bottom after a 2-2 draw at home to Blackburn, for whom Dwight Yorke scored a 78thminute equaliser.
