A third title is still in Allcock's sights

13 April 2012

England's Tony Allcock, bidding for a third world singles title, just edged past Ian Bond in the second round of the World Indoor Championships at Great Yarmouth.

Bond, who has played three to Allcock in the last few International Series, learned last week that he had been dropped by England for this year's Series in Belfast in March, adding spice to an intriguing clash.

Allcock took the opening set 7-4 but Bond hit back to take the second 7-1 and the third 7-4 before Allcock took the next sets 7-5, 7-6.

"I'm obviously happy to have won but I took no pleasure in beating Ian," said Allcock.
