A Real boost for boss Lewington

Watford manager Ray Lewington was pleased with his side's work-out in a 2-1 defeat against Spanish Cup winners Real Zaragoza.

Lewington said: "It was a decent exercise. I was mindful of Saturday's opener against Plymouth so I made lots of substitutions but the match had a good tempo and really helped our fitness."

Ashley Young netted for the Hornets. Watford's League One rivals Brighton were also in action last night, Mark McGhee giving run-outs to trialists Darren Currie and Alexis Nicholas in a 2-2 draw with Lewes.
