Keen gardeners will know that now is the time to sow, and ye shall reap the harvest come spring.

However, even if you don't have a garden or you've never picked up a trowel in your life before, don't let that stop you enjoying a great day out with friends.

On this day above all others you can dress up in an old (maybe smelly) pair of jeans, keep warm under that woolly jumper you wouldn't normally be seen dead in and pull on your wellies. And it's all for a good cause... to help prepare the Dothill Nature Reserve for spring.

Dothill Nature Reserve Dothill Road, Plumstead, SE18 (020-8856 8224),
Sun 6 Jan, 10am-1pm.
