Strange that it has only just occurred to some bright concert organiser that while we Londoners have been enduring traffic gridlock and unfamiliar one-way systems for years to reach festivals in Reading or Chelmsford, we have a perfectly decent field to ruin right here.

Hyde Park has hosted plenty of major gigs in its time, from the Rolling Stones in 1969 to the Red Hot Chili Peppers last summer, but this is the first time any concerts there have been branded as a proper festival.

In truth it's a civilised effort for just 20,000 people with no camping, but the presence of a second stage for new bands and a massage yurt shows that at least they are trying.

The weekend part of the 02 Wireless Festival is over, and if you weren't one of the 20,000 people there you missed acts including Moby, The Bravery, New Order and Basement Jaxx.

But fret not, there's still time to get down to the park this Wednessday and Thursday to catch performances from Supergrass, Secret Machines, Keane and Kasabian. And you can get the Tube home - brilliant.
