Pacha has always purported to be about refinement, so it's no surprise to find School Disco booty bounced from its Friday nights by

Urban Deluxe.

1Xtra's head, Willber Willberforce, takes care of the upstairs, spinning a whirl of disco, funk and soulful house with guests including Jeffery Hinton and Jay Da Funk.

Meanwhile, the downstairs is a celebration of all sounds urban with its straight-up mix of funk and soul classics, hip hop and R'n'B, which this week has Ronnie Herel - fresh from firing 1Xtra's recent first birthday party to life - joining resident Ricky Chilli Source. As usual with Pacha, the accoutrements play a part - dancers, percussion, performance art and live PAs. Urban Deluxe's (and Pacha's) essence is discerning, preened party people dancing the night away.

  • Friday, Urban Deluxe, Pacha, Terminus Place SW1, 10pm to 5am, £12 adv, £15 door. Tel: 020 7833 3139. Tube: Victoria
