A book based on a fake Cheryl Cole Twitter account is poised to challenge the X Factor judge's autobiography in the best-seller charts.

Woath It? Coase Ah Am, Pet, is written by Cheryl Kerl in phonetic geordie. It comes after her tweets attained cult status, with more than 37,000 people following her. Celebrity fans include Bill Bailey and Emma Freud. Radio 1 DJs also regularly read her tweets. The author's real name has been kept secret by the publishers but she has been doing virtual signings on Twitter for the book, which is released today. Cole's book, Through My Eyes, is currently 87th in Amazon UK's chart.

According to publisher Coronet, Kerl was born Cheryl Tweety, is part of the band Girls Are Loud, and is also a judge on a TV show called X Factory.

Commissioning editor Charlotte Haycock said: "As soon as I first heard about Cheryl Kerl I fell in love with her. Woath It? gently pokes fun at the modern world of celebrity and has great commercial potential." Miss Kerl said she was thrilled with the deal. "Ah man, when Coronet asked uz tuh reet mei book, ah wuz leik blern awey," she said.

Cheryl Cole has revealed she wrote a will while suffering malaria. The singer said in a TV interview with Piers Morgan, due to be aired next week, that doctors gave her 24 hours to live.
