It's St George's Day on Saturday, so time to get into the patriotic spirit. From hunting the fire-breathing dragon at Kenwood House to the medieval spectacular at Wrest Park, we give you a round-up of the top St George's Day events...

  • HUNT THE DRAGON AT KENWOODEight fire-breathing creatures are lurking in the undergrowth and children need to capture them all to reveal the name of the slayer. Kenwood, Hampstead Lane, NW3 (020-8348 1286). Sat 23 & Sun 24 Apr, 11am-4.30pm, child £2.
  • ST GEORGE'S DAY TRAILA sponsored trail around Hampstead Heath to raise funds for arts activities at Lauderdale House and in local schools and estates. There are prizes for the best children's fancy dress, wandering minstrels to entertain visitors and quiz sheets to complete. Lauderdale House, Waterlow Park, Highgate Hill, N6 (020-8348 8716). Sun 24 Apr, 11am, minimum sponsorship of £10 to complete trail.
  • WREST PARK ST GEORGE'S DAY CELEBRATIONSTwo days of falconry, fire-eaters, jousting and period entertainment across three arenas in this medieval spectacular. You can watch St George slay the dragon, see hunting and hawking demonstrations and browse the craft market and food stalls. There are craft workshops, theatre shows and donkey rides to entertain the children. The venue has stunning gardens inspired by the Versailles. Wrest Park, Silsoe, near Flitwick, Beds (01525 860 152). Sat 23 & Sun 24 Apr, 10am-6pm, £8, concs £6, child £4, family ticket £20.
  • ST GEORGE'S DAY SPECIALGet to grips with the world of dragons onboard the Golden Hinde. Learn the legend of St George, hear dragon myths and hunt out dragon eggs packed with treasure.The Golden Hinde, 6A Horseshoe Wharf, Clink Street, SE1 (020-7403 0123). Sat 23 Apr, noon-3pm, £12 for the first child, £10 for each additional child, booking essential.
  • ST GEORGE'S DAY DRAGON TRAIL The perfect combination of dungeons and dragons for children in a special St George's Day trail around Dover Castle. The castle ramparts and grounds provide commanding views over the surrounding area and the trail is included in the normal entry price. Dover Castle, Dover, Kent (01304 211 067).
