From a seductive range of oysters and a hot and spicy Indian to a sinful foie gras and the sensual gooiness of an irresistable chocolate dessert, we give you a round-up of some of the sexiest places to dine-out in the capital...

  • Bibendum Oyster Bar Michelin House, 81 Fulham Road, SW3 (020-7589 1480). Mon-Sun £75The Oyster Bar at Bibendum is the prettiest part of the listed Michelin Building. Its high ceiling with its tiled frieze makes a perfect backdrop for shellfish over-indulgence. The range of oysters on offer is particularly good - count on Rocks and Natives and also on some French specials like Belons or Fine de Claires.
  • Baltic74 Blackfriars Road, SE1 (020-7928 1111). Mon-Sun £70This is London's sexiest place to indulge in caviar. Oscietra comes in two serving sizes but keta (salmon eggs) are just as delectable. It is also the perfect first-date restaurant, presumably thanks to the twinkling mirrored bar, an excellent cocktail list, reasonably priced food and a sleek, lofty, dining area. Fay Maschler
  • TamarindTamarind, 20 Queen Street W1. Tel: 020 7629 3561. Tube: Green ParkAdd a bit of spice to your night at this Michelin-starred Indian restaurant which titillates the tastebuds with exotic-sounding dishes such as tandoori lamb chops in a garlic and chilli marinade and grilled tiger prawns with lime leaf, ginger and honey.
  • 42 Club Gascon 57 West Smithfield EC1. Tel: 020 7796 0600A sinfully delicious selection of foie gras and all good things from SW France, served tapas-style, has won a huge following for this Smithfield spot; other attractions include an exciting list of regional French wines, attentive and knowledgeable staff and an intimate, if slightly squashed, setting.
  • River Cafe Thames Wharf Studios, Rainville Road, W6 (020-7386 4200)If you're someone who has reached the conclusion that chocolate is better than sex, head for this famous London restaurant. You may have tried to create the irresistible chocolate dessert from the recipe in The River Cafe Cook Book but a trip to the restaurant is well worth it to experience the right pitch of sensual gooiness.
