So You Think You Can Dance to face 'chop'

'So You Think You Can Dance' is set to be axed by the BBC.

The Saturday night show - which is hosted by Cat Deeley, alongside judges Arlene Phillips, Louise Redknapp, Nigel Lythgoe and Sisqo - has failed to attract viewers during its latest series and after drawing in just 3.6 million on Saturday, bosses have reportedly decided against a third season.

Speaking about the show - which was up against ITV1's 'Britain's Got Talent' on Saturday night - an insider told the Daily Mirror: "Saturday was a real hammer blow for BBC bosses. It was blown out of the water all night by ITV and 'So You Think You Can Dance' has been picked out as the weak link.

"Everyone knows 'Britain's Got Talent' is going to get huge viewing figures, but BBC One should be right up there with the rest of the schedule.

"But it looks as though viewers have got bored of 'So You Think You Can Dance', which has gone into freefall in terms of viewing figures. Producers are struggling to halt the decline, and senior bosses have lost patience with the format. It's unlikely there'll be another series."

The first series of the dance show - which has been a huge hit in the US - regularly attracted more than seven million viewers.
