A comedian today denied attacking Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden while pretending to be a six-foot pigeon.

Pregnant Holden, 39, is said to have screamed and run away when Phil Zimmerman went for her at the end of his audition for the talent show.

The Ealing comedian was voted off by all three judges following his bizarre act which involved strutting around the Hammersmith Apollo stage, bobbing his head and flapping his arms like the bird. He had already acted out Exploding Man, which sees him go red.

Security guards apparently had to restrain him when he targeted Holden but he denies this.

Mr Zimmerman said: "Amanda buzzed me off and I thought this would be a good time to go into my last character, wolf man. I made a gesture towards her and she got up. I think she was milking the moment a bit, she is an actress."

He claimed that his act had been "too subtle" for the audience and that he was "offended" by reports that he had attacked Holden, who is expecting in March. He denied that security guards had forced him to leave the stage and said he had been trying to give judge Michael McIntyre a flyer for his comedy club. "They never touched me. It's all publicity. I'm not a nutter and everyone who knows me knows that I'm playing a character."

Mr Zimmerman said he hopes it will be shown on television to prove his version of events. He intends to perform his act in full and act out the scene at the Drayton Court Hotel in west London on Friday.
