Little Britain's Comic Relief DVD has raised over £1 million for charity

The DVD features Robbie Williams dressing up as a "laydee" and Sir Elton John insisting he is the only gay in the village.

The title, which also includes a cameo appearance by celebrity fan George Michael, has sold more than 300,000 copies since its release on Valentine's Day.

Last month the Comic Relief special became the fastest-selling DVD at HMV, setting a record with more than 110,000 flying off the shelves in just four days.

The 45-minute DVD features 10 sketches written for Comic Relief by Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

Little Britain has gone from cult viewing to smash hit since it was first launched on the little-watched digital channel BBC3 two years ago.

It has also spawned a host of catchphrases such as "I'm the only gay in the village", recently named the nation's favourite comedy saying.

Comic sketches from the DVD will be shown on BBC1 on Red Nose Day on March 11.
Comic Relief chief executive Kevin Cahill said: "We are absolutely delighted at the phenomenal sales of the DVD.

"This is a fantastic gift from Matt and David and we think they're great.
"They are truly amazing people and this will help to change the lives of thousands of people in UK and Africa."
