Judy Finnigan nervous ahead of daughter Chloe Madeley's Dancing on Ice debut

Judy Finnigan admitted she is so nervous about her daughter Chloe Madeley's appearance on reality show Dancing on Ice she is going to have to watch from behind a cushion.

Madeley is up against 15 other celebrities, including Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe and Kerry Katona, in the ITV1 skating show which starts on Sunday.

Finnigan said: "I am a bit nervous about it, but not so much as she is. She's not nervous about being injured, she's just nervous because it all starts this weekend. I'm nervous for her, I think it's going to be quite difficult. I think I'm going to have to take a cushion and put my face behind it."

Her husband Richard Madeley said he had never seen their daughter "work so hard" as she had in training.

He said: "She's taking it very seriously. She comes home absolutely exhausted, physically exhausted every night. And mentally exhausted too."

The couple were speaking at the launch of their Spring Book Club collection, which is run with retailer WHSmith, and is made up of eight books.

The chosen titles, which include four debut novels, can expect a massive sales boost. The first selection from last year's club, Sister by Rosamund Lupton, became the fastest selling title by a debut author in WHSmith's 200-year history.

Madeley said: "We're delighted to announce the new titles. Judy and I have spent a long time carefully choosing these titles and we think that there really is something for everyone here. It's a very, very strong selection of terrific reads."

Among the books are Trespass by Rose Tremain, The Blasphemer by Nigel Farndale and Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson.

Also selected was Room by Emma Donoghue which was shortlisted for the 2010 Booker Prize before losing out to The Finkler Question by Howard Jacobson.

The couple's online book club includes their own reviews of the books and interviews with the authors.
