Michael Jackson will never return to Neverland, his father said yesterday.

The singer will return to the US to visit but will not live in his 1,000-hectare ranch.

Joseph Jackson said his son, who was acquitted of child molestation charges in June, had received a number of threats in the US.

'He'll come back to visit but not to stay, not to live,' he added. 'They didn't treat him right here. I know if I was him, I wouldn't come back.'

But Mr Jackson said he believed the superstar would return to his music career and said he hoped it would include a reunion with his brothers. 'I'm trying to motivate them to go ahead and do this record,' Mr Jackson said of his four other sons. 'They want to do it but they're too slow. They'd rather do it with Michael.'

The King of Pop, who has three children, now lives in Bahrain.

His lawyers have said he no longer considers Neverland, in California's Santa Ynez Valley, as his home.

Jackson, 47, is working on a charity single for hurricane relief with stars such as R Kelly and Snoop Dogg.
