The Indian festival of Vaisakhi, which traditionally marks the birth of Khalsa - the brotherhood of Sikhs - will be celebrated this weekend with a free afternoon event in Canary Wharf.

Cultural and religious beliefs will be brought together for this festival, which dates back to the 17th century, with a drumming extravaganza from the Ministry of Dhol, performances of traditional folk dances, demonstrations of Gatka, a form of Sikh martial arts, and the opportunity to sample loads of delicious Sikh foods.
