Singer Edwyn Collins has had emergency brain surgery after suffering a haemorrhage last month.

The 45-year-old Scottish musician's wife Grace Maxwell said he was recovering and was 'as well as can be hoped for'.

Collins, who fronted the band Orange Juice, is in a London hospital while his condition stabilises.

Ms Maxwell thanked fans and wellwishers for their 'loving thoughts'.
