David Beckham was booked again yesterday - but this time it was off the pitch.

Following his yellow card during his 100th international in Paris last month, the footballer was caught making an illegal manoeuvre in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Beckham was fined by police for making an illegal left turn at a right turn only junction.

The LA Galaxy ace was driving at the junction of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in West Hollywood when he made the forbidden manoeuvre.

Unfortunately for the 32-year-old soccer ace, his illegal move was spotted by a traffic officer, who promptly stopped Beckham in his tracks.

After pulling over his £35,000 Cadillac Escalade, Beckham didn't seem too bothered by his brush with the law as he smiled at the approaching policeman.

Despite a friendly chat with the officer, Beckham was ticketed for the violation.

Beckham was fined $160 (£80) on the spot and will receive one point on his licence - unless he goes to traffic school.

This isn't the first time Beckham's been in trouble over his driving.

In 1999, Beckham was convicted of speeding in his Ferrari in Alderly Edge, Cheshire.

He successfully appealed an eight month driving ban after claiming he was only speeding to get away from pursuing paparazzi.

Meanwhile, Beckham has regained his place as the world's highest-paid footballer.

France Football magazine's annual list shows Beckham has overtaken 2007 and 2006's number one Ronaldinho.

Thanks to his LA Galaxy salary and his numerous endorsements and Beckham brand products, the star earned £24.7million.

That's the ticket: The traffic officer hands Beckham his $160 fine
