He’s only just starting working on his solo music career after leaving One Direction last month, but it seems that Zayn Malik already has Hollywood in his sights.

Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha has revealed that she’s met with the pop star to discuss his possible acting career.

While the acclaimed filmmaker hasn’t got a role in mind for the 22-year-old just yet, she told The Mirror that she’s hoping to work with him in the future.

She said: “We’ve met and spoken. He trained as an actor first then became part of the band.

“So I think what he’ll be doing is staying true to his heart - and that’s all you can ever do.”

Chadha added: “I don’t have a part in mind for Zayn just yet but hopefully in the future.”

Malik made his first public appearance as a solo artist at the Asian Awards last week, and finally broke his Twitter silence to thank fans on Monday.

He wrote: “Wanna say thanks to everyone that's been there for me over the last few weeks, love you all.. you know who you are x.”

US director Morgan Spurlock recently admitted that he wasn’t surprised by Malik’s departure from the band, claiming that Harry Styles would be next to leave.

He told TMZ: ““I think they'll stay together for a little while, for a little bit longer and then at some point Harry will leave, he'll be next.

“I think Zayn is probably the most talented guy in the group, he's an incredible singer.”
