Wimbledon 2018 celebrity watch: Sir Cliff Richard leads the arrivals on day one of tennis

Tennis fan Sir Cliff Richard was all smiles as he led the arrivals on day one of Wimbledon 2018.

The Bachelor Boy singer stepped out in a slim-fit turquoise suit and matching tie as he posed for photographers at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Monday.

He completed the look with a gold tie chain and turquoise pocket square as well as mirrored sunglasses.

Sir Cliff told of his excitement to be at the event, but said he was disappointed for tennis player Andy Murray who was forced to withdraw following an injury.

Speaking to the Press Association, he said: “It is such a fantastic day, I am looking forward to it, and seeing [Roger] Federer.

“It is a shame about Murray, but I think it is probably a good idea. He can repair and prepare for the American (US Open).

“The fact is we have got some other players coming through – Johanna Konta has been doing really well – and it is good for the public to have some people to cheer for.

“Murray is a disappointment for me – he’s my favourite – but I think it is for the best.”

Other stars in attendance on day one included actresses Natalie Dormer and Laura Carmichael.

Sir Cliff previously performed at the tennis tournament in 1996 where he took to the courts for an impromptu performance after rain interrupted play.
