Westlife singer Mark Feehily has announced the birth of his first child with fiancé Cailean O’Neill.

The boyband star, 39, confirmed that he and O’Neill are proud parents to a daughter named Layla, who was born on October 1.

Sharing a photo of him and his fiancé holding onto their daughter’s hospital trolley as they wheeled her down a corridor, the musician wrote: “Baby Layla born safe & sound @ 7.27pm on October 1st 2019!

“We’re the happiest Dads in the world!”

The couple’s friends and fans were quick to congratulate them on their new arrival.

Former Hollyoaks star Jodi Albert, who has been married to Feehily’s bandmate Kian Egan since 2009, wrote: “I feel like Christmas came early!!!!! I love you 3 so much!!!”

Fellow Westlife star Nicky Byrne wrote: “Amazing news pal. Has she heard your ‘note’ in Wings yet? Precious.”

Australian singer Delta Goodrem, who was previously engaged to former Westlife star Brian McFadden, shared a string of hearts under the post.

Feehily announced that he and O’Neill were set to become parents in an Instagram post to mark his birthday in May.

Sharing a photo of him and his partner posing in a mirror while holding a phone screen showing an ultrasound scan up to the camera, he wrote: “It really makes this my most special birthday EVER to let everyone know that later this year we will become Dads for the first time.

“This is the proudest moment of our lives and we are beyond excited to say it out loud!”

The star then confirmed the baby’s gender during a Westlife gig at Croke Park in Dublin, telling fans that he couldn’t wait for his daughter to “grow up in this country.”

The couple are thought to have been together for six years and got engaged in February.
