Watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi teaser – Is Rey planning to kill Luke Skywalker?

Darkness rises as Rey appears to launch an attack on Luke Skywalker in the dramatic new teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, can be seen lying on the floor as he says: “This is not going to go the way you think.”

The camera then turns to reveal Daisy Ridley’s Rey standing over the Jedi Master with her lightsaber raised, leading some fans to question whether she will kill him.

Others have claimed the editing is a sleight of hand to “mess with us” ahead of the film's release next month.

Prior to the encounter Skywalker is seen returning to the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon with Chewbacca and Porg.

The one minute teaser also sees Finn, played by John Boyega, joining in the Battle of Crait, as well as giving fans another glimpse of Snoke’s throne room and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa.

The teaser comes weeks after Disney and LucasFilms dropped the second trailer which hinted at a move to the Dark Side for Rey.

Directed by Rian Johnson, The Last Jedi follows on from J.J Abrams' The Force Awakens and features R2-D2, C-3PO and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is slated for UK cinema release on December 15.
