Tom Jones hits out at The Voice on Facebook after being axed from show

Sir Tom Jones has hit out at producers on The Voice in a Facebook post after being axed from this year’s show.

The legendary singer, who has been on the programme since it began four years ago, has revealed that he was ‘told’ that he wouldn’t be returning just one day ago.

He wrote: “About The Voice UK: In good faith, as part of the team, I’d put the time in my schedule to be involved in Series 5, as I’ve done s for the last 4 years.

“I’ve supported the show and the BBC since the beginning. I was told yesterday, with no consultation or conversation of any kind, that I would not be returning

He continued: “Having been through plenty of transformations throughout the years, I support and admire creative change.

“But being informed, as a matter of duty and respect, is an important part of creative relationships.”

Sir Tom, 75, added: “This sub-standard behaviour from the executives is very disappointing.

“ I will always admire the courage of the performers who participate in the show, as well as all the production staff who worked tirelessly to make a great family viewing experience for the audience at home. I wish the show well.”

This morning the BBC announced that Boy George and Paloma Faith would be joining Ricky Wilson and will.i.am on this year’s show.

Sir Tom had previously expressed interest to return for this year’s series, saying: “I hope to be sat back in my chair with will.i.am and Ricky Wilson.

“We are all friends, I love being on the show and I would to be back if they want me."
