Girl group The Saturdays have put recording new material as a band on hold in order to concentrate on solo projects.

According to reports, Mollie King, Una Foden and Vanessa White have all been in the recording studio separately as they embark on their own careers.

An insider told The Mirror: “Una, Mollie and Vanessa are all really excited and a bit nervous about releasing their solo material, but it’s been a long time in the pipeline.

“The girls are still a band, but they’re all happy to work on their own solo projects. It means there’s no animosity or frustration between them – it’s a set-up which works really well.”

The girls, including members Frankie Bridge and Rochelle Humes, are still signed to Polydor as a group, but seem to be going in their own direction for the time being.

While Humes is currently focusing on her TV presenting career and Bridge is pregnant with her second child, the other three seem keen to branch out as solo artists.

According to insiders, King, 27, is focused on an 80s-inspired disco-vibe while White, 25, is looking to go down an R ‘n’ B route.

Foden, is reportedly set on a more country sound to compliment her love of guitar music and songwriting.

Earlier this year, the band admitted that they wouldn’t be releasing anymore music as a band until 2016.

King said: “We will be recording another album after Christmas so we are doing our own things this year.”

The Saturdays' representatives declined to comment at this time.
