Strictly's Dianne Buswell shuts down Joe Sugg engagement rumours

Strictly Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell has shut down speculation that she is engaged to her former dance partner Joe Sugg.

The YouTube star and the dance professional sparked engagement rumours earlier this week when Sugg shared a sweet selfie of the pair, in which a thin gold band was clearly visible on Buswell’s ring finger.

Sugg captioned the post: “Last day of chillin with this one before we start the tour!”

Fans were quick to point out Buswell’s apparently significant choice of jewellery, with one writing: “Anyone notice the ring on Dianne’s finger. It’s on the ‘ring finger.’ Is it just me or is anyone else seeing this?”

“Are they engaged cuz [sic] that is 100% a ring on her finger,” another asked.

However, others noticed that the image had probably been reversed in Sugg’s phone camera, meaning that Buswell was in fact wearing the ring on her right hand, not her left.

“Most photos on your phone are reversed when you take it so it isn’t an engagement ring,” one eagle-eyed commenter wrote.

The dancer quickly denied any engagement speculation in a post to her Instagram Stories, in which she re-posted a Story from former Strictly contestant Gemma Atkinson, who has been subject to similar rumours.

“Instagram flips the camera. My ring is on my right hand (before I read I’m engaged again),” the original post read.

Buswell agreed, adding: “@glouiseatkinson, omg same here sister.”

The dance partners were romantically linked during their time on Strictly, and finally confirmed their relationship status shortly after the final, when Sugg posted a picture of the pair gazing into each other’s eyes on Instagram.

“I may not have won the glitter ball, but I’ve won something a million times more special,” he wrote.
