Actress Selma Blair has been carried off a flight and taken to hospital after an apparent breakdown.

Blair, 43, was in first class flying to Los Angeles with her four-year-old son Arthur when she started weeping and crying out “he burns my private parts, he won’t let me eat or drink”, witnesses said.

The star, who rose to fame in 1999’s Cruel Intentions and recently appeared in The People v OJ Simpson, had reportedly mixed wine with prescription drugs.

She was also heard to say “he beats me, he’s going to kill me”, according to celebrity website TMZ.

The star, who was flying back from Mexico, was met by paramedics at LA international airport and taken to hospital on a stretcher.

On Saturday, she had posted an Instagram photo of her leaving on the Father’s Day trip with Arthur, her son with ex-partner Jason Bleick.

She captioned the shot: "We're leaving on a jet plane. Dad is already asleep. Not for long. Bwahahahha . #fathersdayweekend."

Representatives for Blair were unavailable to comment.
