Ryan Adams' UK and Ireland tour cancelled amid sexual misconduct and emotional abuse allegations
Ryan Adams’ UK and Ireland tour has been cancelled, after the singer was accused of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse by a series of women.
The singer was accused by several different women, including his ex-wife Mandy Moore, last month when claims were published in the New York Times. Adams denies the allegations.
Since the reports emerged, Adams has faced a backlash online with former fans demanding refunds for his upcoming tour, which included two shows at the Royal Albert Hall.
On Friday, the London venue tweeted that the tour had been “cancelled” and advised those with tickets about their next steps.
“The Ryan Adams UK & Ireland tour has been cancelled,” the tweet read.
“Full refunds to ticket purchasers from authorised outlets will be processed by end of day on Monday.”
Other promoters and venues, including MCD productions in Ireland, also tweeted similar messages.
The news comes after Adams’ upcoming album was been “pulled from schedule” in the wake of the allegations.
US-based Variety claimed that the album, which was set for release in April, has been “put on hold”.
In February, it was claimed the 44-year-old offered to help those who have accused him with their music careers, but that things turned sexual. They claimed he sometimes became emotional and verbally abusive.
Actress and singer Moore, who married Adams in 2009, claimed he was psychologically abusive toward her throughout their marriage. Their divorce was official in 2016.
A 20-year-old female musician said Adams had inappropriate conversations with her while she was 15 and 16, the New York Times reported. Identified by her middle name Ava, she said that Adams exposed himself during a video call.
Adams denied the allegations in a series of tweets, admitting that he was “not a perfect man” but hitting back about “extremely serious and outlandish accusations”.
Andrew Brettler, an attorney for Adams, said that the singer “unequivocally denies that he ever engaged in inappropriate online sexual communications with someone he knew was underage.”
