Ricky Gervais flees to Ecuador and gets punch on the nose in second trailer for Netflix film Special Correspondents

Ricky Gervais has released the second exclusive trailer for his forthcoming film, Special Correspondents.

Gervais, 54, took to Twitter to share with fans another sneak peek at the Netflix film which will air later this month.

The film follows sound technician Albert Finch (Gervais) and radio journalist Frank Bonneville (Eric Bana) as they file fake war reports from above a Spanish restaurant in New York while pretending to be on the front line in Ecuador.

The new two minute clip shows the pair faking their own kidnap and Gervais taking a punch to the nose before heading to Ecuador for real after the hoax goes awry.

The film also stars Vera Farmiga, Kelly Macdonald, Jim Norton and America Ferrera.

Gervais praised Netflix for allowing him to be an "auteur" with his new film.

Speaking in Paris at Netflix’s showcase of upcoming programmes he said: “I get so excited about having an idea but because I can get the thing made. It’s playtime. Its such a f****** privilege to do this. I am so excited. If you’re not excited about this why should they be? Otherwise what’s the point?"

Special Correspondents will be streamed exclusively on Netflix from April 29.
