Pregnant Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has spent a second night in hospital after pulling out of the latest round of auditions for the reality television contest.

The actress, 40, has been under the observation of doctors since admitting herself to hospital on Monday, according to her spokeswoman.

Holden, who is more than eight months pregnant, was forced to pull out of the Blackpool auditions of Britain's Got Talent yesterday morning.

She had been due to join fellow judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams on the panel at the seaside town.

Her spokeswoman could not confirm reports that she had gone into labour, only revealing that the TV star was in hospital "for observation".

The mother-of-one, who is married to Chris Hughes, proudly showed off her baby bump when she attended BGT auditions in Manchester last week but faced criticism for wearing high heels.

In response, the star Tweeted: "I walk less than 25 metres a day in heels whilst up the duff!#justsaying!"

Holden, who has never confirmed her due date, had a stillborn son last year but announced she was expecting again last August.
