The skimpy outfits are on, the celebs have been glammed up and the disco ball is in place for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The new contestants have been teased out over the last few weeks with Masterchef’s Gregg Wallace, Mrs Brown’s Boys star Jennifer Gibney and Bargain Hunt’s Tim Wonnacott the final trio announced on BBC’s The One Show on Friday night.

They join a host of famous faces including Andy Murray’s mum Judy, Blue’s Simon Webbe, and The Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge-who was the first celeb to be announced.

The new recruits have already been training hard ahead of Saturday night’s first show.

TV presenter Caroline Flack – who has swapped The Xtra Factor for the ballroom – has been getting in the mood and tweeted: “Rehearsals for Strictly today. GROUP DANCE... Deffo feel like I'm in West Side story...”

Masterchef’s Gregg Wallace is trying to get used to the gruelling training sessions and took to Twitter to tell fans of his pain: “Proper dancing is hard my calfs hurt.”

Radio One DJ Scott Mills is feeling the nerves as the countdown to his first performance has begun. He tweeted: “Just saw a Strictly trailer on BBC1. Feel bit sick.”

The countdown is on to find out who will dazzle under the glitterball and follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner Abbey Clancy.

The show, hosted by Tess Daly and new presenter Claudia Winkleman, starts on Saturday and will go head to head with ITV's The X Factor.
