Former My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero has been involved in a serious bus crash in Sydney.

Iero was with his Frank Iero and the Patience bandmates outside the Twitter HQ on Park Street when a bus crashed into the back of their van.

According to Australian news channel 9news, Iero escaped injury but two men were taken to hospital and are reported to be in serious but stable conditions.

One man was reportedly airlifted to St Vincent’s Hospital and another was taken by road.

Iero tweeted worried fans and said that he is in a state of “shock”.

He posted: “Hi friends thanks all for the well wishes. We're pretty banged up but miraculously alive& in stable condition. I'm still in a state of shock.”

The band’s concert at the Metro Theatre tonight has been cancelled.

Iero’s former My Chemical Romance bandmate Gerard Way posted a heartfelt message following news of the traffic accident.

Writing on Facebook he said: “I awoke to some very upsetting, sad, and serious news. Heartbroken. I know just as much as all of you but I hope the continued outpouring of love, well wishes, and support help.

“Make sure to hug the ones you care about. Sending all of my love and thoughts to Frank and the boys. G.”
