Matthew Lewis has revealed he finds it “difficult” watching the Harry Potter films.

Lewis, 26, said he struggles to watch the films that catapulted him to fame after playing Neville Longbottom.

Speaking on Lorraine about the wizarding franchise he said: “I watched the first one last year. I decided to go back and watch them all again and I got half way through the first one and that was enough for me. I didn’t want to see anymore.”

Lewis said he feels “bad” when he admits his difficulty in watching the films because he is fearful that he sounds “cynical”.

“It was fantastic I had the most amazing time,” he said. “But it’s like watching home videos of you as a child. It’s difficult sometimes. But I wouldn’t be where I am now without it.”

The actor was on the ITV show to discuss his latest big screen venture, Me Before You.

Lewis plays Emilia Clarke’s onscreen boyfriend before she falls for wheelchair bound Will Traynor (Sam Claflin).

The Happy Valley star said he was “nervous” about performing alongside Clarke after watching her in Game of Thrones.

Seaking about the actress he said: "She’s so friendly and lovely to be around. Obviously playing Khaleesi in Game of Thrones I was quite nervous about meeting and working with her [because] she’s so talented.

“But she was so wonderful to work with from day one - just very relaxed. I think she does a beautiful job in this film.”
