Dumped Love Islander Adam Collard was left sweating after being plugged into a lie detector machine on Capital Breakfast.

The Geordie personal trainer, 22, was interrogated on his feelings for Zara McDermott hours after he confessed his love for the government advisor on Sunday night’s Aftersun.

Challenged on his confession on Monday morning, Capital host Roman Kemp said: “This is a big one, this is a very big one. When I saw this come in, I didn’t know what to say. Nat, who is on the A24 right now – good morning Nat, thanks for your question – she asked ‘last night on Love Island: Aftersun, Adam, you said that you love Zara. Do you actually mean it?’”

Collard replied: “I do love Zara.”

Looking to Pattie on the lie detector for the truth, she said: “Lie.”

Collard was also asked if he has been messaging girls other than McDermott since being booted out of the Mallorcan villa.

He was telling the truth when he said he had, insisting the girls were his “mates”.

But he was called out for lying after denying messaging girls romantically, only for the lie detector to prove otherwise.

Collard faced a backlash during his time on the hit reality TV show after jumping from Kendall Rae-Knight to Rosie Williams to McDermott and then Darylle Sargeant after McDermott left and he was sent to Casa Amor.

He said he “never intentionally wanted to upset anyone” and admitted he “could’ve been a little bit more sensitive” with certain situations, but said he doesn’t regret getting friendly with Sargeant as it made him realise how much he likes McDermott.

He said: “I was wrapped up in the bubble of ‘am I being a little bit stupid, I’ve not known Zara that long and I didn’t know how strongly I felt about Zara until I brought Darylle in and it’s massively made us realise and I regret obviously kissing Darylle but I’m glad I stayed in for a week to know how much I missed her.”

Love Island is on ITV2, tonight at 9pm.

Capital Breakfast Show with Roman Kemp airs Monday-Saturday from 6am
