Justin Timberlake fans were overcome with nostalgia when he revealed plans to collaborate with Britney Spears.

The 35-year-old singer said he is “absolutely” up for penning a song with his ex-girlfriend and told her to give him a call.

Timberlake – who dated Spears for three years before their split in 2002 – broke the news at the premiere of Netflix documentary Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids, at the Toronto International Film Festival.

On finding out that Spears said she was keen to team up he told E! News: "She did? Sure! Absolutely, absolutely. I have a 17 month old so I don't get the headline news."

He added: "I apologise for not being in the know…I'm accessible, give us a call!"

Spears recently spoke about collaborating with the Sexy Back singer during a Q&A on Most Requested Live with Romeo.

She said: "Aerosmith seems really good and bright. He's a genius I think. He's very rock n' roll. He sings from his soul. Gwen Stefani, I think she's great."

The Piece of Me singer added: "Justin Timberlake is very good. A lot of cool people out there."

Timberlake was joined at Tuesday night's premiere by director, Jonathan Demme, who he fooled around with on the red carpet.

The concert film follows Timberlake on his 20/20 Experience tour, in Las Vegas.

Speaking about the film, the singer said: “I’m more nervous for this premiere than any other premiere I’ve been to in my life.”
