Justin Bieber has apologised to his fans for abandoning his Purpose World Tour, explaining that he needs to “rest”.

Bieber, 23, sparked concern when he pulled out of his remaining 14 planned dates across Asia and North America.

The Canadian pop superstar originally cited “unforeseen circumstances”, but has now said he is in need of “relaxation” after nearly two years on the road.

Speaking to reporters in Santa Monica he said: “Yh I’m fine. Just resting and getting some relaxation. We're gonna ride some bikes.”

Asked if he has a message for his fans, he replied: “I love you guys. I think you guys are awesome.

“Sorry for anyone who feels disappointed or betrayed, it’s not like my heart or anything. Have a blessed day.”

The Sorry singer has performed more than 150 shows in six continents since kicking off the tour in March 2016.

Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun said the decision was taken to cancel the tour as “a man's soul and well-being I truly care about came first and we must all respect and honour that.”

A statement on Bieber’s website read: “Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. However, after careful consideration he has decided he will not perform any further dates.

“He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months.”
