Bon Jovi closed a sunny Isle of Wight festival with a set of all-American rock classics culminating in a sky full of fireworks.

Jon Bon Jovi, wearing a stars-and-stripes jacket, belted through his hits which included sing-along favourites such as You Give Love A Bad Name, Bad Medicine, Dead Or Alive and Livin' On A Prayer.

Despite forecasts for heavy rain, the crowds have stayed mostly dry at the four-day event which is the first major music festival of the summer.

Proceedings kicked off on Thursday with Happy Mondays and The Farm playing for campers.

The North West theme continued on Friday night with Manchester's The Stone Roses playing all the fans' favourites including She Bangs The Drums and I Am The Resurrection.

On Saturday, The Killers performed a high-adrenaline set backed by pyrotechnics and confetti cannons.

And yesterday, Bob Geldof roared on to the main stage with The Boomtown Rats reunited for the first time in 27 years.

Other acts at Seaclose Park in Newport included Paul Weller, Emeli Sande, Jake Bugg, Everything Everything, Blondie, Imagine Dragons, Ellie Goulding, Rizzle Kicks and Republica.
