Game of Thrones star Lena Headey has called out an Instagram troll who criticised her make-up free appearance.

Earlier this week, the actress shared a video clip in which she chatted to the camera while about to board a flight from the US.

While most fans praised her bare-faced appearance as “beautiful” and “stunning,” one of Headey’s followers took issue with her lack of make-up, writing: “Don’t record yourself without makeup again please.”

Unwilling to let the troll’s thoughtless words slide, the 45-year-old screenshotted the critical comment and shared it with her 1.7 million Instagram followers.

“I shall continue to not wear make up. Go f*** yourself,” she captioned the post.

Fans praised the star for channelling her regal Game of Thrones character Cersei Lannister, with one writing: “Who dares to disturb my beautiful and righteous Queen?!”

“Perhaps our Queen snapped,” another wrote, while one quipped: “Seems like those trolls hadn’t seen finale of season six.”

Speaking out: Lena Headey named and shamed the troll on Instagram

Others slammed the troll as “sad” and “jealous,” with one follower stating that “Every women [sic] can choose if she wants to wear make-up or not.”

“You’re flawless with or without makeup. You do you because it’s amazing,” another chimed in.

Headey’s Game of Thrones co-stars were also quick to defend her, with Emilia Clarke commenting: “PREACH BEAUTIFUL WOMAN.”

'Until it's over, I don't know how I'll really feel' says Lena Headey

Gwendoline Christie posted a string of heart emojis to show her support.

Yesterday, Headey revealed that she and her colleagues from the HBO show are now “ready” for the series to come to an end after eight seasons.

“I feel totally chuffed […] to have been part of something like that for so long and I think everyone is ready to do new stuff,” she told Good Morning America.

“But I think until it’s over, over, I won’t know how I really feel.”

The final season of Game of Thrones will air in the UK on April 15 on Sky Atlantic.
