DVD: Fiddler On The Roof, MGM Home Entertainment, U, £19.99

Norman Jewison's sympathetic 1971 adaptation of the stage musical about Russian Jew Tevye (Topol) trying to reconcile his faith - and its emphasis on tradition - with a world that's moving on around him.

With a combination of dry humour and florid songs, Tevye and his wife have to deal with three daughters, each more untraditional than the last, and in the process recreate the turn-of-the-19th-century ghetto familiar to any readers of the original Sholom Aleichem stories.

It comes with a whole disc of extras, including features, interviews and a background documentary.
