Singer Ed Sheeran has revealed that he is responsible for the sex lives of his fellow ginger-haired men.

Sheeran, 25, said ginger men in the UK pretend to be him to get attention and to have “a lot of fun” in the bedroom.

Speaking on a US Radio show, he said: "There are a lot of ginger dudes in England who are using me.

"That's why I'm not hating on it. You know what, we're finally getting laid! This is a good thing.

"There are loads of ginger people in England who are smashing it and having a lot of fun."

The multi-award winning singer also revealed that he often receives calls from girls who mistakenly believe they have slept with him.

"We did get this random e-mail to my manager to this girl, while we were on tour in America," he said.

"It was like 'I think I slept with Ed last night at a festival, but I can't remember if it was him or not. If it was him, tell him he's an a**hole and if it wasn't, tell him I'm sorry for this e-mail. This was like a couple of weeks ago."

The Thinking Out Loud singer recently revealed that he has, on occasion, been forced to turn down the advances of his fans or 'Sheerios'.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the time he was approached by a mother in San Francisco who asked him if he could kiss her nine-year-old daughter he said: "She was like, 'Well, Carrie Underwood did it for this 11-year-old boy last week!' If Carrie Underwood kisses an 11-year-old boy, he goes into school the next day and they go, 'Oh, you absolute lad!'

"If a nine-year-old girl goes into school and goes, 'I got kissed by a 24-year-old yesterday,' police are being called, you know?"
