Dave Grohl gave a young blind rock and roll fan the thrill of a lifetime when he asked him to take a seat on stage beside him during a concert in the US.

The Foo Fighters frontman invited the young blind boy and his family on stage with the band at a gig in Minnesota.

Grohl dedicated 2017 hit The Sky is a Neighbourhood to the boy, and asked security to give him a seat on stage alongside his parents for the “family occasion.”

Music website Consequence of Sound reported that the boy’s name is Owen. They shared details of a message believed to be from his mother Stacey, who commented on the Chicago-based music site’s Facebook page.

The post read: “Owen is in fact blind, he also has Autism, Crohn's Disease and developmental disabilities.

“Owen loves concerts so much. He was definitely not tired, he likes to be held up front at most shows and we take turns [holding him] up so he can dance.

"Dave Grohl and all of the crew were incredibly kind to our family.”

Fans were quick to hail the rock and roll superstar a “star” for the gesture.

Grohl has become known for being exceptionally generous to fans at shows.

Earlier this month, he is believed to have invited a 10-year-old boy on-stage to cover a Metallica song on-stage with the band in Missouri.
