Blake Lively posted a touching tribute to her husband Ryan Reynolds after he was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The actress, 29, brought her children along for their first public appearance to mark the special occasion together as a family.

Lively said she couldn’t find the right words to express her joy at Reynolds’ recognition in Hollywood.

Alongside a picture of the family’s feet on the star, Lively wrote: “Proud is a pitiful word to describe how I felt today.

“@vancityreynolds The permanence of your impact is undeniable ...Always has been, but now we have a fancy [star] to show for it.”

Reynolds, 40, praised Lively as he made a speech at Thursday's unvewiling.

"I want to thank my wife, Blake, who is sitting right there who is everything to me," he said. "You are the best thing. The best thing that has ever happened to me - second only to this star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"You make everything better. You make everything in my life better.

"You've given me two of the most incredible children I've ever hoped to have.

"You've made me the father of my dreams when I thought I only had 'fun uncle' potential."
