Beyoncé stole the show during her eagerly-awaited Super Bowl halftime show, delivering a political message and putting on an amazing performance.

The superstar, who dropped her surprise new single Formation the day before, was flanked by a troupe of dancers dressed like 1970 Black Panthers in an apparent nod to black female pride.

Wearing an outfit reminiscent of Michael Jackson, with a black bodysuit and gold sashes, the 34-year-old performed a medley of hits.

Super Bowl 2016 explained

Before the star arrived on stage, Coldplay performed Viva La Vida, Paradise and Adventure of a Lifetime on a flower-shaped stage.

Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson then jumped on stage to give a rendition of Uptown Funk to get the crowd going.

Beyoncé then proceeded to completely steal the show with her rendition of Formation, later joined by Coldplay and Mars for the finale.

Proving that she doesn’t do things by halves, the Queen of Pop also took the opportunity to announce a brand new tour.

The 40-date Formation tour will include dates in the UK, North American, Canada and Europe and will begin on April 27.
