Bresnan in for final

Tim Bresnan returned in place of Steven Finn as England made just one change for today's Champions Trophy final against India at Edgbaston.

Bresnan was unavailable for the semi-final victory over South Africa at The Oval, because of the birth of his first child. England stuck, meanwhile, with in-form off-spinner James Tredwell - who has performed so well in this tournament in place of injured first-choice Graeme Swann. India, as expected, made no changes to their winning team.

Alastair Cook won an important toss on a cloudy but fresh morning, and unsurprisingly chose to bowl first. Less than five minutes before the scheduled start, the full covers were rolled on - and it began to rain. The rain stopped shortly before 11.30am, and a noon inspection was announced.

A reduction in overs was an inevitability.
