The fourth day of the swimming competition got under way this morning little more than 15 hours after Ellie Simmonds had whipped the Aquatics Centre into a frenzy with ParalympicsGB's second gold in the pool.

The host nation now have 12 medals in total with Simmonds and Jonathan Fox at the pinnacle on top of the rostrum with seven finals sessions remaining to stay on course for the target of 40-50 medals.

There are eight more British qualifiers for tonight's finals with Jessica-Jane Applegate in the S14 200 metres freestyle and the men's 4x100m freestyle heading their respective fields.

The City of Norwich swimmer was fastest through today in two minutes 14.31 seconds - a personal best - in what promises to be a highly competitive final with less than three seconds separating all eight qualifiers.

Natalie Massey also made it through in fourth, 1.90secs behind.

For the Clegg family, tonight will mean a quick dash between the Aquatics Centre and the Olympic Stadium after James reached the S12 100m butterfly final with his sister Libby also competing in the athletics.

The 18-year-old, who has a genetic deteriorating eye condition called Stargardt's disease which affects the central vision, exchanged text messages with his sister this morning before he booked his spot in 59.99secs to qualify third.

Daniel Pepper and Ben Procter were fourth and fifth respectively in in the S14 200m freestyle, while Rhiannon Henry overcame a lengthy delay because of lighting issues on the blocks to go into the S13 100m freestyle final fourth in 1:01.87.

Heather Frederiksen made the S8 50m freestyle final in sixth in 32.34 and Robert Welbourn produced a blistering anchor leg to guide the men's 4x100m (34 points) freestyle relay into pole position.
