One person has died following a crash in snowy conditions.

A single vehicle crashed on the A12 near Kelvedon, Essex, at 7.10pm on Sunday, Essex Police said.

Two people were in the vehicle, and one of the occupants, a male, died.

Weather experts said Essex experienced persistent snow throughout most of Sunday, and that it would have most probably been snowing at the time of the accident.

Tom Tobler, a forecaster with MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said: "There would have been several centimetres of snow falling during the day, perhaps up to 8cm or 9cm."
