Girl aged two dies in Bradford

A two-year-old girl has died after she was found unconscious in a street, police said.

A woman who was found with her is fighting for life in hospital.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Morgan said: "Police were called by paramedics to Delamere Street, Bradford at 9.15am today, following reports that a woman and child had been found unconscious outside the back of an address.

" The child, a two-year-old girl, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

"The woman, who is believed to be 36, was also taken to hospital, where she is currently being treated for her injuries. She remains in a critical condition.

"A forensic post-mortem is due to take place tonight.

"Enquiries into this incident are at an early stage, but we are not looking for anyone else in connection with it. I would ask anyone with information to call the police on 101."
