These were the chaotic scenes on a street in the US after a giant inflatable pumpkin was blown along for a whole hour the day before Halloween.

The 25ft pumpkin was seen flying along the road in Arizona after it broke free from a Halloween display outside business Big AZ Promotions, according to KPNX 10 News.

High winds blew it about a quarter of a mile through the town before it eventually came to a halt in a playground and was eventually deflated after it burst.

Patrick Sparkes, spokesman for Big AZ Promotions, said: "I was so shocked to see that it was like bouncing like a basketball all the way down the road.

"Like, oh my god, I didn't know it was going to go that far."

The pumpkin's escape caused some damage to street furniture.

No one was injured in the episode on Thursday, according to reports.
